The Fellowship of the Unashamed

The Fellowship of the Unashamed  "I am part of the fellowship of the unashamed. The dye has been cast. I have stepped over the line. The decision has been made, I am a disciple of Jesus Christ, I won't look back, let up, slow down, or be still. My past is redeemed, my present makes sense, and my future is secure. I'm finished and done with low living, small planning, smooth knees, colorless dreams, tainted visions, worldly talking, cheap giving and dwarfed goals. I no longer need preeminence, positions, promotions, plaudits, or popularity. I don't have to be right, first recognized, praised, regarded or rewarded. I now live by faith, lean on His presence, walk with patience, am uplifted by prayer and labor with power. My face is set, my gait is fast and my goal is Heaven. My road is narrow, my way is rough, my companions are few, my guide is reliable, my mission is clear. I cannot be bought, compromised, detoured lured away, divided or delayed, I will not flinch i...

The Last Mission Email, June 22, 2015

Hey Mamma! Don't have much time. I taught my last lesson today as a missionary to Jenny. It was great. She is an incredible lady. I've been packing all day and headed to the mission office soon. We will have dinner there, FHE, and then sleep at APs home. I have loved every second of this. Still doesn't feel like I'm heading home though. I am going to enjoy seeing you all but I will dearly miss this. And Patrick wasn't baptized this Saturday :( I will tell you about it tomorrow. He had a lot of opposition this week. But thinks are looking up and moving forward.  I love you guys and have appreciated your support and love. Thanks for your patience with me and helping me see who I can become. God lives. He is real. Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ makes things happen. love you and see you tomorrow.  -Elder Lambert

4 New Investigators, JoAnn Baptism, June 8, 2015

Image
Hey mamma, Thanks for the pictures and the update. I can't believe Noelle is graduated from high school. She is way too old.  This week we have had some great events occur. We found 4 new investigators and had a baptism on Saturday for our investigator Jo Ann. We also went to the Mesa visitors center with Patrick and he loved it. It has been a great week! The highlight this week was probably finding our new investigator, Jenny and her three kids. On Tuesday we felt prompted to walk down this one street and saw two people sitting in their garage drinking and smoking. As we approached them, the man offered us a beer haha. We politely declined but began talking with them and had an hour and a half discussion with them! Their names were Jenny and Josh, and they were next door neighbors and siblings. They expressed to us both that they felt Catholicism was shoved down their throats growing up, so they weren't very religious. Jenny expressed more interest in what we had...

26 Teaching Opportunities! June 1, 2015

Hey Mamma, Thanks for the pictures! Yes my address is still 1062 E Nardini St, San Tan Valley, AZ 85240. And thanks for the quote! Please take time this week to honor the life of Elder L. Tom Perry, an amazing apostle of the Lord Jesus Christ! His last talk in conference on the importance of families was very memorable. I love that man and am grateful for the legacy of hope that he left. This week was great. We had 26 total teaching opportunities this week, which was is pretty good. Patrick, Joann and Trinity are all progressing greatly. They all came to church and seemed to really enjoy it. Patrick is awesome! He is super intelligent and he loves reading the Book of Mormon. He has such a dorky personality, but I love it! And we had a great lesson with JoAnn and Trinity on Saturday. We brought our YWP, Sis Bodell, and she was just the person who God needed to be there! JoAnn told Sis Bodell that she was there when Sis Bodell talked in sacrament a couple of weeks ago and...

Zach Goes to the Temple, 7 New Investigators! May 25, 2015

Image
Hey Mamma, Elder Brewer is the first comp from straight in Salt Lake City, but I have had a total of 6 companions from Utah. And haha pros ball is playing basketball on the street in our proselyting clothes. Hence the term, "pros ball". It is a lot of fun and can actually gain respect and trust from people (especially when you beat them).  This week has been great. We have been teaching like crazy. We found 7 new investigators this past week! What's good! Our challenge now is to teach them all towards baptism. We did have a lesson with Terra and her kids, and we are going to start teaching all of her kids. I wasn't at the lesson though, because this past Tuesday night I was able to attend the Gilbert Temple with my old comp Elder Mall while our convert, Zach Rivera, received his endowment! Zach has progressed in the gospel so quickly. It has been amazing to see his growth. He had support from his best friend's dad and family, the Higginsons and Baldwins...

Last Area, May 18, 2015

Image
Hey Mamma, Whats up! Yup, I am gonna die off in the Cambria and Vineyard Wards in the Queen Creek North Stake. I love it here. I couldn't ask for a better place to finish. Elder Olkjer flew away to Alaska last Tuesday, may he rest in peace. My new comp is Elder Brewer from Salt Lake City Utah!!! Haha he went to East high school and graduated in 2014. He is baby! A youngin. He is like Celene Andersons age. Really weird. He is a stud though. He reminds me a lot of my first companion, Elder Glaus. They have a similar body type, mannerisms, and voice. It is weird. But I love it! We are doing work! This week has been great. We have been teaching a lot of our recent converts and helping them towards the temple. We also have been trying to contact former investigators, less actives, and part member families to see who is ready to be taught and baptized. We want to use all of our resources to see who is ready and been prepared to be baptized.  We've had to have the "dr...

Baptisms! Meet the Melvilles, May 11, 2015

Image
Hey Mamma, Happy Mother's Day! It was great to see you guys as well. I got 6 weeks to work my tail off. No regrets. Full throttle. Giving 100%. Till I collapse. I love you guys! As you know, this week was amazing. Edwin, Kevyn, Kielly, and Kaylee are all baptized now! Such a great weekend. We put in so much work to get this accomplished. It was exhausting and stressful at times, but we got the job done.  I will send some pictures from the wedding, baptisms, and lunch with the Melvilles.  I will let you know next week who my new companion is. The work moves forward!  love, Elder Lambert Me with the Melvilles. Elder Olkjer, Kevyn (Ke'ana in front), Edwin (Davion in front), and me. Me, Kielly, Elder Olkjer, Bro Standifird, Kaylee, and Sister Standifird. Kevyn, me, Edwin, Bro Sanfilippo, and Elder Olkjer.

Four Baptisms! May 4, 2015

Image
Hey Mamma, What in the world?!? New cars, Noelle and her friends look like almost-adults, and Adria is engaged?!? That is super weird. Time is moving too quick! This past week has been great. Pretty much our highlights this week have been our lessons with Kielly and Kaylee and with Edwin and Kevyn.  Kielly and Kaylee are ready to go for baptism this coming Saturday! They are such smart girls. They have been through a lot of difficult situations due to their abusive dad, but now they can finally progress in their life. I am excited to see their growth in the gospel.  This week is Elder Olkjer's last week in the mission, so we are trying to finish off strong and we are trying to witness lots of miracles. And boy oh boy is God providing!  On Saturday we went to the Mesa Visitors Center with Edwin and Kevyn and their kids, along with their member neighbors the Sanfilippos. We watched the movie Meet the Mormons with them and then walked around the temple. Kevy...

Priesthood Power, April 27, 2015

Hey Mamma, Do you have any pictures with all the family that went to the Draper temple? I would love to see everyone's faces! And that is crazy to think Noelle went to her senior dinner dance. She is so old. And Mom, good luck on your lesson for Relief Society this week. Hit it out of the ball park! This week was awesome. We had an expanded zone conference with multiple stakes on Tuesday night. And Thursday we had MLC and President Nattress dropped some wisdom that he learned from his mission president's training in Texas.  The highlight this week was definitely teaching Edwin and Kevyn and their kids. They are amazing. They are so committed to the gospel already! Wednesday night we had a lesson with them and they both accepted the baptism date of May 9th. They have great questions and they keep all of the commitments we leave. Kevyn has many verses in the Book of Mormon highlighted! It is so great to see a family so anxious and ready to change their lives around ...

Edwin and Kevin, and Become a Creator of Circumstances, April 20, 2015

Image
Hey Mamma, Glad to hear that the lady you visit teach and her husband are still meeting with the missionaries. Have the missionaries set a baptismal date for the husband yet? And are you enjoying attending the lessons? Utah weather sounds as bipolar as usual. And down here in Arizona it actually has been really nice. It has been heating up a little bit, but nothing too bad yet.  This past week we have had many great experiences. Last P-day we had an AWESOME activity, we went to Schnepf farms (a local farm in Queen Creek) and rode on their roller coaster and played mini golf! It was sweet. The Schnepfs are a member family in Elder Olkjer's past area and they gave us the hook ups! It was great. We had the whole farm/park all to ourselves.  This week we unfortunately were unable to teach Steffen. :( We stopped by and his wife told us that they were not interested. Of course, I am persistent and don't give up that easily, so I did all I could to keep the conversation...

God Knows Who is Ready to Hear the Gospel, April 13, 2015

Image
Hey Mamma, Thank you for the photos from London! Your trip looked like lots of fun. Noelle is one lucky daughter! London looks like a beautiful place.  Yes, I am still a zone leader, and there is a good chance I will finish my mission as a zone leader. I am ok with that, because I do enjoy helping the younger missionaries and learning from them. It is fun to see missionaries grow.  This week we have had some awesome experiences. On Tuesday we had a lesson with the Cera/Valdez family, and we were happy and sad to hear that our convert Johnny Valdez is moving back to Phoenix to live with his brother. Johnny was living with his sister down here for just enough time to hear the gospel, be baptized, and receive the Priesthood. But Johnny told us on Tuesday that he has been praying and he feels like God needs him back in Phoenix. There are family members and friends that Johnny needs to help come closer to Christ. Johnny told us that he needs to move back in order to bri...

I Love Street Contacting! March 30, 2015

Image
Hey Mamma, Thanks for the update! I love that talk by Elder Jorg Klebingat. I have it on my flash drive and I have listened to it a couple of times while driving. I love how straightforward he is. And what day are you guys leaving for London? Travel safely and have fun! This past weekend we had another pair of mini-missionaries with us, but this time they were from the Val Vista Stake. Brother Jordan and Brother Barazoto are great guys and they are going to be valuable tools in the Lord's hands. Bro Barazoto already has his mission call to West Virginia and he leaves in June. I wish him luck!  So with the mini missionaries this weekend we stayed super busy. We would split off each day and I mostly would take one of them to learn how to street contact people while Elder Olkjer would take the other one to a lesson with him.  I have learned that I find some of the greatest joy when I get out, rely completely on the Lord, and go find people to talk to and teach. I lo...

More Baptisms and Fear of the Future, March 23, 2015

Image
Hey Mamma, Haha sorry I didn't mean to freak you out. But yes, I  would say that you are right in that I feel like I am facing more temptation and doubt the closer I get to the end of the mission. Two companions ago, my comp felt like he was going through the same thing. There is so much anxiety and stress that comes with knowing that these two years are almost over! The unknown of my future can be frightening.  But I have also come to realize that it all comes back to choice. What kind of life do I want to live after the mission? Which path do I want to take? I had to make this same decision before my mission, and now I need to recommit myself to serving the Lord. I've realized that I can't continue forward in happiness without God's help. Cameron sent me a quote that has really helped me. It says, "We never apologize to anyone for depending upon our Creator. We can laugh at those who think spirituality is the way of weakness. Paradoxically, it is the way of ...

Johnny and Anthony Baptism, March 16, 2015

Image
Hey Mamma, Sounds like you had a busy and stressful week. And is Moldova in the Ukraine? Is dad heading there again? This past week was awesome. Johnny Valdez and Anthony Coleman were both baptized on Saturday, and it was incredible. There was such great support from the ward and from family and friends. Elder Olkjer (my comp) baptized Johnny and had to baptize him four times because he wouldn't stay completely under the water! Haha. And Anthony's grandpa, Bro Coleman, baptized Anthony and hit Anthony's head on the back of the baptismal font! Hahah it was super scary. I thought Anthony was going to pass out and we would have to dive into the font to save him. But he ended up not being hurt! It was a crazy day.  And then yesterday I was able to confirm Johnny a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I was honored. Johnny was so happy and joyful. Later that night, Johnny spoke at the New Member Fireside, which is a fireside our mission puts on ...

Zach R. Mission Call! March 9, 2015

Image
Hey Mamma, Happy 80th birthday to Grandma Simmons! And happy 24th birthday to Cameron! I hope he has a great day and a great week. And thank you for the pictures! Noelle looks way too old and grown up now to be my little sister. I love my family! Yes, I did know that G&G Simmons were sealed at the Mesa temple along with many other family members. We have a rich history there. It is a great place. And don't worry about getting pages for my journal, I just bought a new journal at Walmart the other week. And I write down my learning experiences every day! I don't ever want to forget all that I have learned and all of the miracles that I have witnessed. A mission is a time never to be forgotten and never to b e relived.  This past week flew by and we had many incredible experiences. Our investigators Johnny and Anthony are ready to go for baptism this coming Saturday. They are such studs. This week they came and did service with us for a single sister in the ward. An...

21st Birthday and Sharing the First Vision, March 2, 2015

Image
Hey Mamma, Thanks for the package and letters! I appreciate it. And the family that sent you the photos is the family that is preparing for baptism! They are very sweet to me and made me a birthday cake! I was very happy to spend my night with them.  And that is great that you had another lesson with the Steeds. And that you had dinner with the Squires. I can't believe Cami is 16! Weird. Super weird. And which of Dad's documentary's is showing at the LDS film festival? And where is the festival at? My new companion is Elder Olkjer from Anchorage, Alaska. We came out together but he is going home May 12th while I am going home June 23rd. We get along really well and we have had a lot of teaching opportunities this past week. It has been sawwweet! Many incredible things happened this week. The family that made me a birthday cake, came to our Missionary Choir Concert on Thursday night and then we all went to the Mesa Visitors Center on Friday night (which I hav...

Transfer to Queen Creek Stake Again! February 23, 2015

Image
Hey Mamma, What up! This past week I did get transferred to......The Queen Creek North Stake! Haha I served in this stake before, in the Desert Mt. and Rittenhouse wards, and now I am back! But now I cover the Cambria and Vineyard wards, which are awesome wards with very humble people. I didn't move too far, my new address is 1062 E. Nardini St., San Tan Valley, AZ 85240. But I am gonna do work here and I hope to finish the mish here! This past week was tough saying goodbye to all of the great people I met and taught in Pegasus and Orchard Ranch Wards, but it was time to move on. My investigator from Pegasus Ward, Paula, is getting baptized this Saturday so I will be attending that. I love those people and am grateful for all that they have taught me!  My new area though has some sweet investigators. We have 5 people on date for baptism as of this week! One is a Hispanic family that the 14 year old daughter got baptized two Saturdays ago, and now the mom, her brother, and ...

Be Worthy at All Times, February 16, 2015

Hey Mamma, Thanks for the updates and pictures! Haha those pictures are great. I love Michael Nielsen's face. Priceless. We just barely had transfer calls, and I am getting transferred unfortunately :( Goodbye Queen Creek! I will really miss this area. I was hoping to move my membership records into the Pegasus Ward and live there permanently. On Wednesday I will figure out where I will be going. So for now, send any letters to the mission office! Thanks. This past week we have had some cool miracles. A less-active Samoan man in Pegasus called us up one night and invited us over for dinner. We went over last Monday night and got to have dinner with him and his girlfriend. He has a son from his previous marriage that is on a mission right now, so we were able to have a great discussion on the incredible experiences we have as missionaries. His girlfriend, Sandy, was super nice and receptive. She is a Christian lady that has 6 children, and she has such a love and desi...
