4 New Investigators, JoAnn Baptism, June 8, 2015
Hey mamma,
Thanks for the pictures and the update. I can't believe Noelle is graduated from high school. She is way too old.
This week we have had some great events occur. We found 4 new investigators and had a baptism on Saturday for our investigator Jo Ann. We also went to the Mesa visitors center with Patrick and he loved it. It has been a great week!
The highlight this week was probably finding our new investigator, Jenny and her three kids. On Tuesday we felt prompted to walk down this one street and saw two people sitting in their garage drinking and smoking. As we approached them, the man offered us a beer haha. We politely declined but began talking with them and had an hour and a half discussion with them! Their names were Jenny and Josh, and they were next door neighbors and siblings. They expressed to us both that they felt Catholicism was shoved down their throats growing up, so they weren't very religious. Jenny expressed more interest in what we had to say than her brother Josh, so we set up a return appointment with Jenny.
On Thursday night we had our lesson with Jenny and her three kids, Nicole, Alex, and Isabel. Nicole is 11, Alex is 9, and Isabel is 7. We had a great lesson with them about the Book of Mormon, who God is, the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and Joseph Smith's story. It was amazing how Joseph Smith's story related so well to Jenny's life. She told us that she felt lost and uncertain, and she wanted to know how other people knew what church to join. After the lesson Jenny walked out after the lesson with us and broke down and started crying. She expressed to us that she was struggling as a single mother with balancing work, school, and her kids. She told us that she felt like it was no coincidence that we had met her two nights before. She felt like God sent us to her. We invited her and her 4 kids to be baptized and they all said yes!!! What's good. We have another lesson with Jenny and her kids tonight and we are so excited to see her progress in the Gospel.
We also had a lesson with a recently baptized guy and his family, the Wilkins. We had our lesson set up and to our surprise they invited one of their non-members neighbors/friends to sit in on the discussion with us! She is also a single mother by the name of Rashelle. She has two kids, Anastasia and Wyatt, and she lives with her boyfriend. We found out yesterday that her boyfriend wants to sit in on the next discussion with us!
The work continues. I love it out here and am trying to make every second count.
thank you for all your love and support
-Elder Lambert
