Hey Mamma,
Thanks for the updates and pictures! Haha those pictures are great. I love Michael Nielsen's face. Priceless.
We just barely had transfer calls, and I am getting transferred unfortunately :( Goodbye Queen Creek! I will really miss this area. I was hoping to move my membership records into the Pegasus Ward and live there permanently. On Wednesday I will figure out where I will be going. So for now, send any letters to the mission office! Thanks.
This past week we have had some cool miracles. A less-active Samoan man in Pegasus called us up one night and invited us over for dinner. We went over last Monday night and got to have dinner with him and his girlfriend. He has a son from his previous marriage that is on a mission right now, so we were able to have a great discussion on the incredible experiences we have as missionaries. His girlfriend, Sandy, was super nice and receptive. She is a Christian lady that has 6 children, and she has such a love and desire for her kids to become good people. She gladly accepted the Book of Mormon and seems to have a strong desire to learn more. It is very refreshing to see someone recognize the goodness that comes from the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. I am excited to see how Sandy progresses.
One of the greatest things I have learned this week is the need to sanctify ourselves to be ready at all times to worthily exercise the Priesthood of God. This past week I have felt a little bit down and burnt out, therefore Satan has taken advantage of this opportunity to harass me. Whenever I feel him bombard me with temptations the most, I have realized that it is because I have a future event where God needs me to stand as his witness.
For example, this past Saturday I felt especially down and tempted. I wondered, "Good grief Satan! Would you leave me alone? Why now? Why can't you just leave me alone?" As I made the decision to turn to Christ and pay no heed to the Adversary's temptations, I realized later that night what God needed me for. Around 9:45pm, a companionship of elders that lives in the same apartment complex as us called us to ask if we could give one of them a Priesthood blessing. The companionship was Elder Bailey (my second companion, my first son) and Elder Nelson that called us. We went over and found Elder Nelson lying on the couch, struggling to breathe and to talk. Elder Nelson had done a service project that day where a lot of dust was kicked up, so we assumed he was having an allergic reaction to the dust. We gave him a Priesthood blessing, and then rushed him to the ER.
The ER took good care of him and he recovered fully by the next day. We stayed with Elder Nelson and Bailey until about 11:45 am, and then our mission President told us we could head home. Right before we headed home, a lady on a stretcher came in from the ambulance. The lady was breathing heavily, was pale white, and was puking into a bag. The man beside her, the husband, pulled us aside very quickly and asked if we could give her a blessing. We of course gladly accepted.
So amoung the EMTs and RNs, Elder Furse and I gave this lady a blessing. The great calm that enveloped that room was undeniable. Amid the chaos and worry, a stillness seemed to fill the room for a moment. It is as if the Heavens reached down to us mortals and said "It's ok. God is in charge here. Everything will be ok".
I know that God needed me to be prepared for these two remarkable Priesthood blessings. I am glad that I chose not to give heed to the temptations of the Adversary. He wants so desperately for me to fail and crumble. I am so glad that I chose God rather than Mammon.
I know that the Priesthood power is in reality the power to act in God's name. I know that serving a mission has magnified my opportunities to bless other people's lives as the Savior did. I know that God knows his children by name. What are the chances that two elders would be at the ER Saturday at midnight to give a blessing to a woman who just had a seizure? There was a reason we were there that night. God needed us to work his wonders among the children of men.
I love you guys! Thanks for your support!
-Elder Lambert
