God Knows Who is Ready to Hear the Gospel, April 13, 2015
Hey Mamma,
Thank you for the photos from London! Your trip looked like lots of fun. Noelle is one lucky daughter! London looks like a beautiful place.
Yes, I am still a zone leader, and there is a good chance I will finish my mission as a zone leader. I am ok with that, because I do enjoy helping the younger missionaries and learning from them. It is fun to see missionaries grow.
This week we have had some awesome experiences. On Tuesday we had a lesson with the Cera/Valdez family, and we were happy and sad to hear that our convert Johnny Valdez is moving back to Phoenix to live with his brother. Johnny was living with his sister down here for just enough time to hear the gospel, be baptized, and receive the Priesthood. But Johnny told us on Tuesday that he has been praying and he feels like God needs him back in Phoenix. There are family members and friends that Johnny needs to help come closer to Christ. Johnny told us that he needs to move back in order to bring his mom, brothers, and son into the Church. He is determined to do all he can to help them see the joy of the gospel.
I love Johnny and I will miss his presence. His rapid growth and understanding of the gospel was amazing. He is and will forever be a great tool in the Lord's hands. His brother Larry, is getting baptized in Phoenix this Saturday and wanted me to come and baptize him. Because it is out of our mission, I am unable to. But I am so happy to see Larry and Johnny work together in bringing their family closer to Christ. They are my brothers!
This weekend we were able to have 2 mini missionaries with us, Bro Allred and Bro Abney. We did so much with them this weekend. We had been praying to find a new investigator family to teach that would be humble and willing to listen. Saturday night Bro Abney and I were biking talking to a bunch of people. After not much success, we saw a guy building a table in his garage. We pulled up and noticed that he was covered in tattoos and had huge gages in his ears. As we started talking to him, he was the most polite and respectful man I had ever met! He told us that he was married and had a 6 year old and a baby on the way. He had a couple of co-workers that were returned missionaries, but none of them had ever given him a Book of Mormon. He was super open to listen to what the Book of Mormon was and he accepted the invitation to read it! We set up a return appointment for this week, and we have been praying each day that he will desire to read it.
God knows who is ready to receive the Gospel. We cannot judge by appearance who will listen and who will not. I am so excited to teach Steffen. And pray that him and his young family will be receptive to the Gospel.
Thank you for all of your support and love. I am gonna keep working hard!
love,
Elder Lambert
Me, Larry (getting baptized April 18th), Johnny "Jet-stream"(convert), and Elder Olkjer.
