I Love Street Contacting! March 30, 2015

Hey Mamma,
Thanks for the update! I love that talk by Elder Jorg Klebingat. I have it on my flash drive and I have listened to it a couple of times while driving. I love how straightforward he is. And what day are you guys leaving for London? Travel safely and have fun!
This past weekend we had another pair of mini-missionaries with us, but this time they were from the Val Vista Stake. Brother Jordan and Brother Barazoto are great guys and they are going to be valuable tools in the Lord's hands. Bro Barazoto already has his mission call to West Virginia and he leaves in June. I wish him luck!
So with the mini missionaries this weekend we stayed super busy. We would split off each day and I mostly would take one of them to learn how to street contact people while Elder Olkjer would take the other one to a lesson with him.
I have learned that I find some of the greatest joy when I get out, rely completely on the Lord, and go find people to talk to and teach. I love approaching strangers on the street and finding a way to tie our conversation into the Gospel. It is probably one of the scariest things to do in missionary work, but it is very rewarding. I love hearing people's opinions on things and seeing how they react to us. I have learned that every human soul has something to offer; they have some sort of story to share; they all have life experiences that have shaped who they are. My goal is to ask the right questions to get their minds thinking on how God has played a role in their lives.
I learned from one of our neighbors, a drunk man named Mike, that as missionaries we have, "...Eternal life within you. Because of what you do and who you are at such a young age, you have so much freedom. You have so many possibilities ahead of you". Mike told us that at our age, he partied a lot and got his girlfriend pregnant, leaving him with a life he didn't necessarily want.
This weekend Brother Jordan and I talked to this crazy guy named Rafael whom I have met before. Rafael told me that he really appreciated my prayer the last time I visited him. He said he had never seen a prayer so sincere and specific. He told Brother Jordan that he had "big shoes to fill". When I responded that I am nothing special and I actually have small feet, Rafael responded by saying "You may have small feet, but you know no defeat". Although Rafael is a little bit crazy because of drug use, what he said really stuck to me. It was a clever play on words, and I appreciate his insights.
On Saturday night I was able to take Bro Barazoto and our Recent Convert, Johnny Valdez to a couple of lessons. It was amazing to see how natural Johnny is at talking to people. He was baptized just three Saturdays ago, and he is already talking to strangers about how the gospel has changed his life! He can relate to people so well because of his background. I love it! He has such faith and such a love for all of God's children. Johnny is going to do great things!
I love this opportunity to be a missionary! I am gonna go 100% the next couple of months. No regrets. Mediocrity can no longer be allowed to fly. I want to bring more families closer to the Savior!
Thank you for your love and support!
