Bunch's Baptism! February 2, 2015

Hey Mamma,

Congrats on meeting with the missionaries and the lady you visit teach this week! That is awesome mom! You are such a stellar missionary. Remember to bear simple testimony. You will do great. Let me know how the lesson goes.

No, I didn't notice too many people visiting for the Super Bowl. The game was in Glendale, which is quite far away from where I am at. And most of our Sunday was spent in church, so we didn't get to hit the streets and see all the crazy football fans out.

The highlight this week was definitely Bunch Gbondo's baptism. It was awesome. He had great support from his extended family and the ward. He was so happy and ready to go! Bunch's friend D'Anthony came to the baptism (we are teaching D'Anthony's family as well), and after the baptism Bunch told D'Anthony to ask his parents if he can be baptized too. Haha it was awesome to see Bunch already doing missionary work. I can't wait to see "Elder Gbondo" serving a mission in 7 years. He is going to be great.

On Thursday this week we had MLC and then our mission choir concert at night. We talked a lot at MLC about helping our missionaries find their "why" and giving them the tools necessary to be effective missionaries. Our choir concert was great, although none of our investigators made it to come and watch, which is a bummer.

We picked up a new family to teach this week, but I am not sure how far they will go. The parents are Frank and Mia, and they have three kids, Zeauna, Xavia, and Franklin. We taught them the Restoration, and it seemed to go fairly well. Mia especially likes to have us in her home, but they don't seem to really desire to read and pray for themselves. The 10 year old daughter, Zeauna, is awesome because she told us "I love when you guys are in our home!" And when we invited them to read 3 Nephi 11 in the Book of Mormon, the parents said maybe but Zeauana exclaimed, "I'll read it!"

It is interesting to me how kids so easily recognize goodness in their lives. Zeauna is so eager to learn about God and Jesus Christ and to cleave to that which is pure and true. I can see now why King Benjamin exhorts us to "..becometh as a child" (Mosiah 3:19). Children are innocent and teachable. They are willing to learn.

Thank you for all of your love and support! I love you guys! Have a great week

p.s. Mom, can you send me a picture of when I was baptized? I would love to show that to the people I teach. Also, can you send me more pages for my journal? Bro Wahlquist gave me a 3-ring journal for my mission, and this past week I finished writing in it! But he gave me more paper for it, but I believe I left it at home. Could you look around for me? Thank you!
