Re: Imagine You Are Opening a Howler, July 1, 2013
Hahahahahaha Mom you make me laugh. Sorry, I just thought a short email was all i needed to send. There is too much good stuff to write!! But I'll do my best.
So my companion is Elder Glaus from Tampa Bay, Florida. He is a boss. We call him Gloss boss. His family has 11 kids, he went to BYU Idaho for a year, and he loves basketball and T-Swift (just like me ;) ). He's a really good kid and a good missionary. He works hard, is friendly to everyone, and loves people. I couldn't of ask for anyone better! haha.
We live in an area called Copper Basin in a 3 bedroom house with Elder Carroll (from Hawaii) and Elder Prestwich (from Rigby, Idaho). It is a pretty nice house, but you can tell that many missionaries have lived in it haha. I'm a OCD neat freak, so i keep my stuff clean, and the other Elders are all pretty clean too. Elder Glaus and I are actually moving out today though because we are moving to downtown Florence. Our area is now officially in the Gilbert AZ mission and we meet our new mish pres on Wednesday.
Elder Glaus and I cover two wards (Florence 1st and Florence 2nd), though they might be split soon. We might just cover Florence 1st soon. We're not sure though. Marc Jolley is the WML who texted you mom haha. He's awesome. He reminds me of Uncle Craig a lot. He is a great WML and a great teacher, we go on splits with him like 3 times a week. He always makes sure that we use our study time wisely and he stresses the importance of reading the New Testament. The Bible is actually our main book of doctrine, not the Book of Mormon. I have learned so much about the NT lately and i have learned from Bro Jolley.
I've gotten used to the heat. My first day in the area, Elder Glaus lost our car keys so we had to bike everywhere. Holy Hottness. It was scorching haha. But luckily the members are awesome here and they give us rides whenever we need them. But I've pretty much just gotten used to the fact that I will be sweating a lot. I think i prefer the heat over the cold though. And luckily we found our car keys the next day, so we've been able to drive everywhere now. The members feed us pretty regularly, but i bought some food at the store too. You've gotta be dumb to starve here haha. It's definitely not a third world country. And yup, I stay hydrated. Always. I'm an aquaholic.
That is super sad to hear about Grandpa :(. I love him and I hope he can overcome this. I will definitely be praying for him. And for you Mom. I know that must be especially hard for you.
That's a bummer to hear about Havasupai! You better just go. That is a once in a lifetime experience. I would go. It probably isn't as hot as it gets here.
Lar went to church!! That is so sweet!! And she is teaching you guitar, mom? hahahahaha. But that is a myth. Lauren is a much better guitar player than me.
Tell Dad that I am honored that he would say that. I love him and look up to him a lot. I hope to be able to read his screenplay when i get home. Or even better, see it as a movie!! haha
Alright, i'd better go. I love you all. I have NO DOUBT in my mind that this is the true Church of Jesus Christ. I met a member the other day named Mike. He was a methodist minister for all of his life, but found how corrupt that their church was. All the heads of his church would ask him at the end of the year was "did you make more money than last year? And did you get more members than last year?". He is a very educated man when it comes to Christianity, and he told us that he The Church of Jesus Christ truly has the correct order and authority from God. This IS Christ's church. I know that to be true.
love yall
Elder Lambert
