Meeting with Elder Neil L. Anderson, September 9, 2013
Yo Mamma! And Family!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY NOELLE!!!!! Wow. 17 years old. She is so old. For real. Sounds like she had a purrty fun birthday though. When is homecoming? Does she have a dress yet? And haha, 1D mania. Remember Noelle and Mom, "Thou shalt have no other gods before me", that includes Harry Styles and the boys of one direction. Haha maybe I'll watch the one direction movie when i get back in 2. And yo! BYU beat Texas?!?! That is SWEET! Was that their first game this year? How is the team looking?
As for the questions, it has been raining all day today and the weather is gradually getting cooler. It is still mostly hot and dry though. And our ward has the biggest ward boundaries in the WHOLE mission, so yes we have a car. But we also bike a lot, especially in downtown Florence cause that's where we live.
But let's see.... This last week we had A TON of meetings. We had a zone conference on Wednesday, and on Saturday we had a special meeting with Elder Neil L. Anderson of the quorum of the Twelve apostles. It was incredible to be in the presence of a special witness of Jesus Christ. I know without a doubt that he is a servant and a living apostle of our Savior and Redeemer Jesus Christ.
Elder Anderson told us quite a bit concerning how to be effective missionaries in the Gilbert, AZ mission. He told us that besides a couple of missions in Utah, our mission is one of the smallest geographically in the world. And because so much of Gilbert is LDS, we need to work through the members in order to have success. I've noticed that since pretty much every other area besides mine (Florence) is more middle class and upper class residence, the missionary work is struggling somewhat there. We have the best area in the mish!! I wanna stay here forever haha. We have more teaching opportunities a week than most zones do in a month. It's crazy!!
But anywho, that was cool. This last week we've had some pretty awesome lessons. This couple we are teaching, Renae and Koge are READY for baptism like none other. We met Renae and Koge back in July, and they have drank up and devoured the Book of Mormon and the pure Gospel of Jesus Christ like none other. It has been incredible to see their growth. Last week Koge told us that the Book of Mormon has answered questions that he never knew he had, and that every other church seems to be stuck in the past while the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is moving forward. They are both committed to be baptized on September 21st, so we are excited for them!!!
I love the work. I love helping people. There
is nothing more rewarding that seeing people come closer to their Savior Jesus Christ. It has been such a blessing to be out here. I love you guys!!!!
much love,
Elder Lambert
